Duration of one lesson

Normally, a lesson takes one and a half hour. If desired, longer lessons are possible, up to 2,5 hours. In general, one and a half hour works well for individuals. Longer lessons can work for groups.

Duration of a course

A course consists of ten lessons, after which students can decide to go for another course. Students can also register at once for two or more courses.

Individuals or group classes

You can sign up for a one-on-one course. If you have friends or colleagues who want to learn Dutch with you, you can sign up for a group course. If you're alone, but would like to have group classes, you can be put on the DAM waiting list. As soon as another student with the same level and the same schedule applies for a group course, the two of you could start.

Location

Individual students and small groups, up to five persons, preferably have classes at DAM Dutch. By arrangement, classes can also be given at the student's place or in-company. If that's outside of Amsterdam, transportation cost will need to be charged.

Groups consisting of more than five colleagues, can only have classes in-company.

If you're with five or more and you'd like to have lessons at your place, let us know!

Schedules

DAM Dutch and the student(s) will agree on the starting date and class frequency together. The lesson dates will be planned and payed for in advance.

Cancelling lessons

If a lesson needs to be cancelled, first we'll try to reschedule it in the same week. If that's not possible, the lesson will be planned in the week after the final week.

There are two limits:

1. In a 10-lessons course, a maximum of two lessons can be rescheduled;

2. Lessons cancelled within 24 hours generally won't be rescheduled.

Group lessons will continue as long as there are at least two students present.

If the teacher is ill or cannot teach because of other circumstances, DAM Dutch will always plan another lesson by mutual arrangement.

Homework

Following a course implies doing homework too. In groups, it's important to keep up with the other students, also if you miss a lesson. DAM Dutch will send an e-mail about the homework to group students who were absent.

Outdoor activities

Visiting a museum, going to the market and other outside activities count as one lesson. Extra cost, like museum tickets, are payed by the students.
